Excluding Images from Search Results

Safe Search can be enforced through adam:ONE® for

  • DuckDuck Go
  • Google Search
  • Bing

However. Where Content Protection is a high priority, even with SafeSearch on, the search results might return images that would include material (like women’s underwear etc.) that would be deemed undesirable for some communities.

In a case like this, you could choose to move specific devices into a policy that allows search results but that excludes all images from those results for safety. Once you navigated to a specific result and it is deemed safe by the adam:ONE® policy you are on, the needed images and videos for that site will play as permitted by the specific policy.

You have a few options to have images blocked for web searches with adam:ONE® .

The main method we currently recommend is Brave Search Excluding Images

Brave Search Excluding Images

  1. Use the MSS block rule to block all search engines. MSS|Block Search Engines ALL
  2. Be sure to switch off the Safer Search Filter rule to prevent it from overriding the Block all Search Engines rule on the policy.
  3. Use the MSS forwarding rule MSS | Search - Brave Search - exempt from being blocked - EXCLUDE IMAGES
  4. Set Brave Search as the default search engine and inform users that all other search engines will not work:
    1. On Desktop: on the browser set Brave Search as the default for all computers that you want to use this configuration with.
    2. On iOS: BraveSearch is not currently listed as an available search engine in settings.
      1. If you have adam:GO™ we can Create a Webclip for search.brave.com and push it via MDM.
      2. Or let the user visit search.brave.com in Safari and let them add it to their home screen as a Webclip.

NOTE:
Safe search is not enforceable on Brave Search via DNS at present. Thus, you might get adult content included results. However adam:ONE will prevent access to any of these sites and no images will be displayed in search results.
