I am attempting to install NordVPN on my pfsense instance and force all traffic out through the VPN. The adam:ONE installation instructions for pfsense state that the DNS Resolver → Network Interfaces should be set to localhost. NordVPN indicates that this setting should be All. Will changing this setting to All affect my adam:ONE service?
Hi @dcass great question. So I believe they are telling you to set it to All so that it will listen on all networks.
But in the case of running adam:ONE, it’s taking care of that for you. So you shouldn’t actually need to change anything there, adam:ONE is essentially taking the place of running DNS Resolver on “All”.
@atw Thanks for the reply. I finally moved on with the configuration and have come across another conflict. In the NordVPN settings, the LAN firewall rules should look like this:
My rules with adam:ONE configuration look like this:
Would this be the correct change (editing the adam:ONE Allowed Traffic rule to use the NordVPN gateway) or do I need a new entry for the VPN? I do want all traffic from my network to go through NordVPN and adam:ONE.
Thanks in advance!
Yes you’re exactly right, you’d assign the NORDVPN gateway to the adam:ONE Allowed Traffic
rule.
